About Dr. Jennifer LaTreill
My great passion in life is assisting others in healing from their trauma or stressful experiences as well as working with those who struggle with depression, anxiety, or diminished self-esteem. My goal is to help my clients, who include school age children, teens, and young adults thrive and develop strong, positive perceptions of themselves and their relationships. My aim is to
assist you or your family in developing a treatment plan that you are invested in and with the use of well researched therapy approaches, I look forward to working together in order to help you reach your goals, with the hope it will provide you with reprieve and peace.
I firmly believe there is no single approach that is right for every individual, therefore I remain flexible regarding my therapeutic techniques and am happy to let my clients lead the therapy process. I was trained and have experience with psychodynamic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, play therapy, art therapy, and family systems approaches. The entirety of my education
and training placed a strong emphasis on trauma informed care as well as working with individuals who have experienced complex trauma. I also thoroughly enjoy incorporating play or art activities in order to help individuals build confidence, regulate their emotions, facilitate communication skills, build empathy, and enhance social relationships as well as safely process
any past negative experiences. However, it is the strong, trusting therapeutic relationship as well as providing a warm, empathic environment that I strive to provide to each client.
Beyond therapy, I enjoy providing psychological evaluations or testing for individuals who may be experiencing attention issues, learning difficulties, mood disorders, or other emotional or behavioral concerns. Additionally, I enjoy assessing children for symptoms related to Autism Spectrum Disorder utilizing the ADOS-2. The testing process often helps parents or clients gain
insight into their difficulties as well as highlight their strengths in order to improve functioning across settings such as in the home, at work, or in the school environment.
I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of North Florida and received my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Florida School of Professional Psychology. I have training and experience among community mental health centers, private practices, private academic institutions, and the public school system with a specialization in working with school aged children, teens, and young adults, typically 7 to 25 years of age. I have also received specialized training with play therapy techniques such as sand tray and non-directive play.
When I am not at the office, you can find me enjoying the sunshine, reading fiction novels, trying out new recipes, or spending time with my husband and siblings.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me today. I would love to provide a free phone consultation in order to explore how I may assist you or your family.
